Gena C. Smith of Florence passed away into God's loving and eternal care Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017 at home. She was 96.Born in Florence she was a lifelong resident. Gena was a retired supervisor for the Burlington County Welfare Board in Mt. Holly, where she worked for over 20 years.She was a member of the Parish of Sts. Francis and Clare and it's altar Rosary Scoeity. She also did volunteer work at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly for many years.Daughter of the late Carlos and Andreina Gentile Battaglini, wife of the late F. Hamilton Smith, and sister of the late Catherine Kalwaitis, Anne Hamilton, and Richard Argenti, she is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Friday, at the Dennison Funeral Home, 214 W. Front Street, Florence, where relatives and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Florence.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parish of Sts. Paul R. Deal Sr. of Shamong passed away into God's loving and eternal care Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at the Continued Living Center of the Veterans Hospital of Philadelphia. He was 85.Born and raised in Philadelphia, Mr. Deal had lived in Tabernacle/ Shamong area since 1968. He was employed as a truck driver for the Exxon Company for 18 years and later worked as a a postal worker at the Mt. Holly Post Office before retiring.He was a U.S. Army veteran ofthe Korean War and a former member of the Browns Mills VFW Post #6805. He was also a recipient of the Purple Heart. While a patient at the Veterans CLC, he served on the Residential Council and was the coordinator of the Honor Guard there. In his earlier years, Mr. Deal loved to go hunting and he also enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles games on TV.He is survived by his daughter, Loretta Nixon and his son, Tim Deal; his grandchildren, Harry Nixon, Cheyenna Deal- Pike and Kimberly Nixon; and his great grandchildren, Timothy, Shane, Dylan, Isabella and Charlotte; as well as several nieces and nephews and their families.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Dennison Funeral Home, 41 Main Street, Vincentown, Southampton, where visitation with the family will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Military honors will be at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any chapter of the DAV.To offer condolences to the family, please go to the Web site listed below.Dennison Funeral Home,41 Main StreetVincentown, Southamptonwww.dennisonfh.com#ndn-video-player-3.ndn_embedded .ndn_floatContainer { margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 20px; }...
